SEO and AI visibility for UAE garages and car service centres.

For garages, service centres, tyre shops, detailers and car AC specialists across the UAE. Drivers pick a workshop from Google Maps, a WhatsApp chat or a short AI answer, usually in a hurry. We make sure yours is the one they can find, trust and message.

A driver with a warning light or a dead AC isn't browsing. They search, compare two or three workshops and message one. This page covers how that search works now, what we measured in this sector, and the order we'd fix things in. For a sector where the regulator shapes every advert, compare our page on SEO and AI visibility for Dubai real estate.

  • Google Maps and "near me". Google says that when someone searches for a business near their location, they see local results on Maps and Search, ranked mainly on relevance, distance and how well known the business is, including its reviews and the websites that link to it (Google). You can't move your workshop closer to the driver, so relevance and reviews do the rest of the work.
  • WhatsApp. Verified profiles can add a WhatsApp chat link to their contact details, so a driver can message straight from the listing. Google says the option is available in select regions, and if you add both WhatsApp and text, only text is shown (Google).
  • AI assistants. A driver asks ChatGPT or Gemini for "car AC repair Sharjah same day" and gets a few names. There is no page two.

A UAE car-servicing directory we measure, 7 August 2026. Scores out of 100; AI visibility across six engines.

On 7 August 2026, a UAE car-servicing directory we measure scored 62 out of 100 on traditional search and 3 out of 100 on AI answer visibility. We ran 18 buyer-intent prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok and Google AI Overviews. It was cited on 0 of the unbranded ones. The full method is in our UAE AI visibility report.

Why that matters for a garage: the directory exists to answer exactly these searches and does well on Google, yet no engine named or linked it on any question without its name in it. Those are the only questions that matter, because a driver with an overheating engine doesn't know your name yet. Our reasoning, not a measured finding: a single workshop has fewer pages and fewer mentions than a directory, so it can't assume a good Maps position carries into AI answers. The work that moves it is consistent details, pages an engine can quote, and mentions on sites the engines read.

What customers check before they call

We found no UAE advertising rule written specifically for garages on an official government page, so this page has no regulator section. What drivers check, from the sources we do have:

  • Is it open now? Including on a Friday, and during Ramadan.
  • Does it do my car? A make, a job ("gearbox", "AC regas") and an area, stated the same way on the profile and the website.
  • Is it real? Photos of the workshop, recent reviews and your replies.
  • What will it cost? Here one general law does apply. The UAE's consumer protection law (Federal Decree-Law No. 5 of 2023, amending Federal Law No. 15 of 2020) covers services sold by suppliers and advertisers across the mainland and free zones. It gives consumers the right to obtain services at the declared price, requires a dated invoice in Arabic showing the trade name, address, service and price, and sets penalties of up to two years' imprisonment and a fine of up to AED 2 million for advertising misleading prices (u.ae). We treat any price on your website as a declared price.

Driver questions worth measuring

Examples of the unbranded questions we'd test for a workshop, not measured results:

  • BMW specialist garage in Al Quoz
  • car AC repair Sharjah same day
  • tyre shop open now in Musaffah
  • trusted garage for a pre-purchase inspection in Dubai
  • ceramic coating in Dubai: which detailer is worth it
  • ورشة متخصصة في صيانة بي إم دبليو في القوز (workshop specialising in BMW servicing, Al Quoz)
  • تصليح مكيف السيارة في الشارقة في نفس اليوم (same-day car AC repair, Sharjah)
  • محل تواير مفتوح الحين في مصفح (tyre shop open now, Musaffah, in Gulf dialect)

What to fix, in order

  1. Primary category, then every service. Google says categories affect local ranking and asks for the most specific one. Its own guidelines use "Auto Repair Shop", "Tire Shop", "Auto Parts Store" and "Car Wash" as category examples; for detailing or car AC work, search the list and pick the label that completes "this business is a…". Then add each job in the services editor, with prices in the details, not the service name: Google says to keep prices out of custom service names and rejects ones that break its policy. Google's menu guideline says a car repair shop's menu should list its complete set of services, not just popular ones.
  2. Storefront, service area or both. Google's own example of a hybrid business is an auto repair shop with a garage that also offers roadside service: it can show the workshop and set a service area.
  3. Hours, including Friday and Ramadan. Enter Friday exactly as you work it. Google lets you use current seasonal hours as your regular hours, and special hours cover closures of up to 6 days in a row, so we make Ramadan hours the regular hours for the month and add special hours for Eid. Our Google Business Profile checklist has the full routine.
  4. Brand specialisms, worded the same everywhere. Google's name rules exclude service information (its example: "Midas Auto Service Experts" should be "Midas"), and a business selling another brand's products uses its own name unless it is an authorised, fully dedicated seller. So "BMW and MINI servicing" goes in your services, description, a page per make on your site and your directory listings, in identical words.
  5. Price pages with real prices. A page for each common job, such as oil service by engine size, AC regas, tyre fitting or a pre-purchase inspection, saying what's included, whether VAT is included and the date it was last checked. Only publish prices you will honour.
  6. AutoRepair structured data. Schema.org defines AutoRepair as a car repair business under AutomotiveBusiness, alongside AutoBodyShop and AutoWash; TireShop sits under Store. Google's local business documentation asks for the most specific subtype (an array if you are several), requires name and address, and recommends telephone with the country code, geo to five decimal places, opening hours and a priceRange under 100 characters. Don't mark up your own Google rating: Google recommends rating markup only for sites that collect reviews about other businesses.
  7. Reviews without incentives. Google's Maps policy bans discounts or free services for reviews, asking only happy customers, staff review targets and reviews from people with a conflict of interest, such as employees. Send the review link on WhatsApp after every job and reply to every review.
  8. Photos of the actual workshop. Google says photos should represent reality without heavy filters, and an exterior photo helps customers recognise you when they arrive. In an industrial area, show the gate and the sign from the street, then the bays, the team and finished jobs.

How High Street helps

The free check runs your driver questions in English and Arabic across Google, Maps and seven AI engines, and shows which workshops are named instead of you. Local SEO covers the Google Business Profile, hours, reviews and directory details; AI search visibility covers the entity and source work that gets a workshop named in answers. If you have no website, or one you can't edit, our websites service builds one for AED 999, then AED 499 a year, with the domain in your name. Monthly work is quoted in writing after the check.

Questions workshops ask

Can I put "BMW specialist" in my Google Business Profile name?

Generally no. Google's guidelines rule out service information in the name (its example: "Midas Auto Service Experts" should be "Midas"), and say a business selling another brand's products uses only its own name unless it is an authorised, fully dedicated seller. Put the specialism in your services, description and website instead.

Can I offer a discount on the next service for a Google review?

No. Google's Maps policy bans offering payment, discounts, free goods or services in exchange for a review, and says incentivised reviews are removed. Send every customer the review link after the job, with no offer attached.

I run a mobile mechanic or tyre service. Should I show an address?

If customers never come to you, Google says to remove the address and set service areas instead: up to 20, by city or area, not a radius. If you have a workshop with permanent signage and also do call-outs, you are a hybrid business and can show both. Google says the overall service area shouldn't be more than about two hours' drive from your base.
