Best AI Visibility Tools for Small Businesses: A Budget-First Guide (2026)

Most small businesses should start free: SE Ranking's free checker compares you with local competitors, Geoptie's free rank tracker shows a live answer on five engines, and AthenaHQ's free plan keeps watching with 300 AI responses a month. When you want daily tracking, pick Otterly.AI Lite ($29) if your buyers use Copilot, Cairrot ($39) for Arabic and city-level ChatGPT and Perplexity checks, Cituna ($39) if you want the fixes written for you, or Nightwatch (€79) and Semrush ($99) if you already track Google rankings. We checked every price on the vendor's own page on 28 or 29 September 2026.

How this list works

This list is ordered by what you pay, not by a score: free tools first, then plans under $50 a month, then plans under $150. Within a band, cheaper comes first, and ties are alphabetical. To be listed, a tool had to fit one brand and one website at its entry price, name the engines it covers, and publish a price we could read on its own page on 28 or 29 September 2026.

We gave extra weight to what matters for a local business: a country, city or language setting, a free way to start, and whether the entry plan includes the engines your customers use. Cituna is included because High Street uses it in its own client work, and it is held to the same criteria as every other entry. We did not test accuracy; every fact below comes from the vendor's own page, dated.

Does a small business need a paid AI visibility tool?

Often, not yet. A dental clinic in Dubai Marina or a garage in Al Quoz might have eight questions that matter, such as "best dentist in Dubai Marina for implants" or "who repairs Range Rover gearboxes in Dubai". You can ask those in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity once a month and write down who gets named. Our guide to checking whether ChatGPT recommends your business takes about ten minutes.

A paid tool starts to pay when one of these is true:

  • You want a daily or weekly history, not a memory of last month.
  • You want to see which competitor is named instead of you, and which pages the engine cites.
  • You sell in more than one emirate or country, or your customers ask in Arabic as well as English.
  • You are publishing fixes and need to see which one moved the answer.

If none of those apply, the free tools below are enough.

Which questions should a small business track?

Track the questions a buyer types before they know your name. An interior design studio in Abu Dhabi might track "interior designer for a villa in Abu Dhabi", "fit-out company in Abu Dhabi with fixed pricing" and the Arabic version of each. Leave out questions that contain your brand name: they say little about whether a new customer would find you.

Five to ten unbranded questions cover most small businesses. Keep the wording the same every time you check, so a change in the answer is a change in the engine, not in your question. For what moves those answers, see our guide to getting recommended by ChatGPT.

Which free AI visibility tools are worth using?

Three free options cover most of what a small business needs to know on day one. Two are one-off checks with no signup; the third is an ongoing free plan. We describe eight no-signup checkers in more depth in our guide to free AI visibility checkers.

1. SE Ranking free AI visibility checker (best for comparing yourself with local competitors)

You enter your domain and up to five competitor domains, and it returns how often each is mentioned, and linked, in AI answers, as a number and a percentage. You can copy the table or download it as a CSV. It is free, needs no signup and allows five checks a day (checked 28 September 2026).

It covers Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. When you outgrow it, SE Ranking offers a 14-day trial with no card, and its Core plan is $129 a month ($103.20 billed annually) with 100 daily prompts on the same five engines and Search Console.

Strength: you see yourself and five rivals side by side, with linked mentions split out, which is the comparison a local owner usually wants first.

Limit: no Claude, Grok or Copilot, and it is a snapshot with no saved history.

Pick it if: you want to know today whether the clinic, garage or agency down the road gets named more often than you.

SE Ranking's free AI visibility checker

2. Geoptie Free AI Rank Tracker (best for seeing a live answer on five engines)

Geoptie's free tracker runs a live query across AI engines and reads each answer for your brand, the competing brands and your position. You enter a domain; it detects the brand name and the query itself. It returns a visibility score, whether you were mentioned and how, the competitors named, your ranking position and recommendations. Checks are on demand with no stated limit and no signup (checked 28 September 2026).

Engines covered: ChatGPT (GPT-4o, GPT-5 and ChatGPT Search), Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. The paid Starter plan is $49 a month, or about $41 billed annually, for 15 prompts, two brands, any four of seven engines, 123 markets and daily checks.

Strength: it includes Claude, which SE Ranking's free checker does not, and shows your position in the answer, not only whether you appear.

Limit: the query is detected for you, so check it matches how your customers actually ask. There is no history, and the paid plan's trial terms are not stated.

Pick it if: you want to read the actual answer to one important question, and see who is ranked above you.

Geoptie's free AI rank tracker

3. AthenaHQ Essential (best for ongoing tracking at no cost)

AthenaHQ's Essential plan is free and comes with $25 of free credit: 300 credits a month, where one credit is one AI response (checked 28 September 2026). It covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, with unlimited members, prompt and response analysis, sources, competitor insights and content recommendations. You sign up with an email.

By our arithmetic, 300 responses cover about ten questions checked once a week on all five engines (200 responses in four weeks), with room to spare.

Strength: it is a real, continuing plan with Copilot and competitor insights, not a one-off score.

Limit: no API, integrations or export on the free plan, and the next step is Starter at $295 a month, with nothing in between.

Pick it if: you want a trend line over a few months without paying, and weekly checks on a short question list are enough.

AthenaHQ's plans page

What does under $50 a month buy?

Daily checks on one brand and a short question list. The three plans below all publish a price at or under $39, and each suits a different small business.

4. Otterly.AI Lite (best for Copilot on a small budget)

Otterly Lite is $29 a month, or $25 billed annually (checked 28 September 2026). It tracks 15 prompts daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with unlimited team members, one workspace, three recommendations a week and 1,000 GEO audits a month. Otterly lists more than 50 countries on every plan, and offers a free trial for new users; its length and card terms are not stated.

In our Cituna scan of 22 buyer questions across seven engines on 28 September 2026, all seven engines named Otterly.AI when asked for the cheapest AI visibility tool that tracks multiple engines.

Strength: Copilot is on the entry plan, which matters if your customers are office teams working in Microsoft 365. Monthly plans cancel anytime.

Limit: 15 prompts with no extra-prompt pack on Lite. Claude ($29), Gemini ($9) and AI Mode ($9) are add-ons, so Lite with all three is $76 a month. No Grok, and Search Console is not listed.

Pick it if: you sell to businesses whose staff use Copilot, and 15 questions on four engines is enough.

5. Cairrot Starter (best for Arabic and city-level checks)

Cairrot Starter is $39 a month for ChatGPT and Perplexity, 15 prompts, up to three team members and API access (checked 28 September 2026). On 25 September 2026 its pages named Arabic among 10 languages, offered a city or region setting, and said it records where each cited page lands in Perplexity's source list. Grok is an add-on from $25 on any plan, and the $99 Pro plan adds Gemini, Claude and DeepSeek with 40 prompts.

Strength: Arabic and a city or region setting at $39, which fits a business whose customers ask in Arabic or search by emirate.

Limit: Starter covers only two engines, with no Google AI Overviews, AI Mode or Copilot. Brands per plan and refresh rate are not stated, and the "Try For Free" offer has no published terms.

Pick it if: your buyers ask in Arabic, or you need answers for Dubai and Sharjah separately, and ChatGPT and Perplexity are the engines that matter.

6. Cituna (best for getting the fixes written, not only the gaps found)

Cituna checks your buyer questions every day on seven engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. When it finds a gap, it writes the fix and can publish the article. Google Search Console and MCP are included. Plans are $39, $119 or $399 a month, with a 3-day trial that needs a card.

Strength: a small team without a writer gets the next action as well as the report, on seven engines including Claude and Grok from the first plan, with Search Console alongside.

Limit: it does not track Microsoft Copilot. The trial is three days and needs a card, and the tiers are fixed, so you grow by moving up a plan.

Pick it if: you are an owner or a one-person marketing team who wants to fix what the engines get wrong, not only watch it. Cituna's pricing page

When is $50 to $150 a month worth it?

When AI answers are one part of a wider search job. Both tools below put AI tracking next to Google ranking or SEO data, so one subscription covers both.

7. Nightwatch Starter (best for Google rankings and AI answers by location)

Nightwatch Starter is €79 a month, or €948 a year (checked 29 September 2026). It includes 50 AI prompts, 1,500 AI responses a month, citation analysis and classic rank tracking. It covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews, daily, and says it tracks in any location or language across 107,000+ locations in 190+ countries. The 14-day full-feature trial needs no card.

Strength: Google rankings and AI answers for a specific location in one report, with six engines on the entry plan.

Limit: the 1,500-response cap is tight. Fifty prompts on six engines every day would need about 9,000 responses a month, so in practice you track about eight questions daily or more of them weekly (our arithmetic). No Copilot, and it is priced in euros.

Pick it if: you already check your Google rankings in Business Bay or Jumeirah and want AI answers in the same place.

8. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit (best for Semrush users selling in the UAE or Saudi Arabia)

Semrush's AI Visibility Base plan is $99 a month per domain, billed annually (pricing page, checked 28 September 2026). It tracks 25 custom prompts daily and reports mentions from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity, with 1,000 daily Prompt Research queries and AI checks in Site Audit for up to 100 pages. Its overview reports cover 42 regions, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Strength: the UAE and Saudi Arabia are on the region list, and prompt research shows volume and difficulty next to the Semrush SEO data you may already use.

Limit: 25 prompts, and Claude, Grok and Copilot are not named. More costs extra: 50 more prompts are $60 a month, each extra domain or location $99, and Search Console comes through a $10 report add-on. On a free trial, Semrush's pages disagree.

Pick it if: your SEO already runs on Semrush and you sell in the Gulf.

Which tools did we leave off, and why?

  • SE Visible ($99 for 200 prompts on five engines) is strong on volume, but its markets are the US, UK, Canada and four European countries, with no UAE or Arabic.
  • Rankscale Essentials is $20, but the credit amount appeared only on the 25 September page, not on 28 September, and the 7-day trial covers Pro.
  • Trakkr Growth ($100, eight models) needs a card for its trial and has no Copilot or AI Mode. It suits a single brand that wants Claude and Grok.
  • Peec AI and Profound showed no paid price on the pages we read on 28 September 2026.

Questions people ask

Does a small business need a paid AI visibility tool?

Not at first. If you have fewer than ten buyer questions, free checkers plus a monthly check by hand will tell you whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity name you. Pay when you want daily history, competitor trends or engines the free tools skip.

What is the cheapest way to track ChatGPT for a small business?

Free: SE Ranking's checker (five a day) and Geoptie's free tracker both include ChatGPT. Paid: Otterly.AI Lite is $29 a month for 15 daily prompts on ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot (checked 28 September 2026).

Can I track AI answers in Arabic?

Cairrot names Arabic among its 10 languages and offers a city or region setting (checked 25 September 2026). Semrush lists the UAE and Saudi Arabia among its regions, and Nightwatch says it tracks in any location or language. For any other tool, ask the vendor before you buy.

How many questions should a small business track?

Most small businesses we work with have 10 to 30 genuinely different buying questions. Start with the five to ten that lead to a sale, unbranded and written the way customers ask them.

How often should a small business check AI answers?

Weekly is enough for most. Answers move, but a small business rarely changes its pages daily, so weekly or monthly checks show the trend. Daily tracking helps once you are publishing fixes and want to see which one worked.

What does Cituna cost for a small business?

Cituna's plans are $39, $119 or $399 a month, with a 3-day trial that needs a card. Every plan checks seven engines daily and includes Google Search Console and MCP. It does not track Microsoft Copilot.
